About our client
Providing services for a broad market that ranges from buy-to-let landlords to first-time buyers, it is a trusted broker for a growing number of businesses, investors and individuals.
The challenge
As a financial services provider, the company is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). As a result, the business needs to comply with FCA operational resilience requirements. To do this requires robust, secure IT systems and software: any data breach can be catastrophic to a firm in this sector. Our client believed that its systems needed to be more robust and secure, so it turned to us for help.
The solution
Our client was using a Network Allocated Storage (NAS) system. This allowed users to access centrally stored information, including customer data. However, due to shared passwords, this system had major security issues. After conducting a full system audit, we proposed moving the company’s systems to Microsoft Azure – the enterprise level cloud platform. This allowed us to synchronise all of the company’s desktop computers with Azure Active Directory. With strong, multi-factor authentication, identity governance controls and features such as machine-learning that helps prevent suspicious login attempts, this is an ideal platform for financial services organisations.
The company’s systems are now fully compliant with Financial Conduct Authority requirements, giving our client confidence in handling customer data safely – and in protecting its systems and reputation. After a highly successful handover, we hope to help introduce system improvements as they are needed.
