None of us have a crystal ball and with the continued rise in cybercrime, it’s time for an IT health check. Don’t just keep your fingers crossed that nothing will happen.
Do you have arrangements in place to protect your IT equipment and IT systems? None of us have a crystal ball and with the continued rise in cybercrime, it’s time for an IT health check. Don’t just keep your fingers crossed that nothing will happen.
In the same way you might be advised to have a health check with your doctor, it’s important for your IT systems to have a health check too. Here are the sorts of things the IT health check will look at.
A back up strategy
A backup strategy will document your whole data backup process. It should consider where your data is backed up, if it’s kept on-site or backed up in the cloud. It will also consider if you need to have all of your data backed up and how often this should happen.
Anti-virus software
The chances are that your business has some anti-virus software. If it doesn’t, then you should make getting some a priority. Does your anti-virus software cover all of your devices? Is your software updated regularly? Without the updates, it can make it inefficient against ransomware attacks and hacking.
Password policy
Is your network password policy fit for purpose?
Password policies set by the system are not sufficient enough to mitigate risk to your business. To protect your business against a variety of threats, your system must be set to ensure that users are forced to change their passwords regularly.
Internet security
Is it fit for purpose? What sites do your employees have access to at work? We would always advise our clients that a policy preventing access to unsuitable or risky websites will reduce the risk to the business.
Working with ECOM
At ECOM, we will also check that your servers are performing at their optimum levels and have no security concerns.
