Our Managing Director and co-founder, Lloyd Harris, has always been passionate about green issues, but didn’t know where to start to make a meaningful difference.
After weeks of planning, the ECOM team attended Lee Chapel Primary School in Basildon last month to oversee the planting of a field maple tree in the school’s grounds.
For a long time, we’d been thinking about how we could play a more active role in protecting our local environment. Our Managing Director and co-founder, Lloyd Harris, has always been passionate about green issues, but didn’t know where to start to make a meaningful difference.
After being introduced to the opportunity via our marketing team, Lloyd and the team entered into talks with Lee Chapel’s headteacher, Sue Jackson, who explained that many of the site’s trees had been badly damaged during the recent Storm Eunice. Some had even been ripped up from their roots. Replacing these trees was hugely important to the school, not just because they added softness and greenery to the landscape, but because they played a part in supporting and sheltering local wildlife.
As you can imagine, Lloyd jumped at the chance to contribute a tree to such a worthy cause – and the rest is history!
As a team, we have more plans in place to plant more trees and help create a greener planet for everyone, not least our local communities here in Essex. We’ve been particularly inspired by The Queen’s Canopy, a unique tree planting initiative set up in May 2021 to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II this year.
